Christiana and hundreds of her classmates are abducted by an extremist sect in the north of Nigeria. They are taken to the group’s camp, deep in the vast Sambisa Forest. Considered war booty, she is given off as wife to Bukar Mujahid, the sect’s chief executioner. She refuses to be his wife. She would escape and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
But resisting Bukar’s attempt to consummate their ‘marriage’ comes at a price. He attempts to rape her. When she resist, he beats her severely.
Then her cousin, Tina, kidnapped with her, is killed attempting to escape. Her hope of escape seems to be dashed.
Then Bukar is missing in action fighting the army at Konduga. To her surprise, she realises that she misses him. She prays for his safe return. As she waits with trepidation for any news of him, a sect commander rapes and almost kills her.
Not long after, Chadian soldiers attack the sect’s camp. She survives the attack. But there is no respite. Air force jets bomb the sect’s hideout, killing scores, including some of her classmates. Caught in the crossfire, can she escape and pursue her dreams or will she die in the fighting?
